Today we celebrate my Mum’s 67th birthday (we did however have to calculate that this morning). I wanted to write a little something, but was unsure where to start so I decided the easiest way was to write a letter to her instead….
Dear Mum
Today is your birthday and I want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for…. Your patience and calmness throughout my teenage years - not an easy one I know

:) For guiding me through my first chance at parenthood, I couldn’t have done it without you, For giving me the space to really get to know myself, For giving me your opinion, even when it didn’t match mine, For teaching me to work for what I want, For backing me when nobody else did, And for letting me chew your ears off when things didn’t go to plan, Or for when excitement kicked in.
Mum, you have created so many memories, So again I thank you, Here are just a few little memories I have...
Making us tiptoe through the kitchen while you baked a sponge, then throwing it on the ground to stop it from rising….
Sewing all our ball dresses in whatever style we wanted, You have no idea just how talented you are.
For sewing our new outfits out of top quality second hand fabrics when we were kids (but why, seriously why, the matching tracksuits???)
You learning to play the guitar, I still remember the many pauses made when changing chords,
Learning to paint, Learning to quilt, Learning to dance,
Through your actions you have taught me to never stop learning, to try new things, and to give it a go if it excites you.
Mum, the older you get, the stronger you get, You stepped out of your comfort zone and found good on the other side, And for that I respect you.
I know parenting is hit and miss. You never really know if you’re doing a good job or not, But let me tell you this - You have done an amazing job (I mean just look at us haha - just kidding),
Mum, thank you for all you have taught us in life. You’re the bombdiggity and we love you xx
