Build your castle. Your castle (your home) is everywhere you go. Your home is you. The place you can always rely on to have your back, To have you feel safe, To be your cheerleader, To be your strength & guide. You can live anywhere in the world, but if you're own inner home is not cared for, you will always feel like something is lacking in your life. The other day I took my son out of school for the last part of the day and we took off to the beach. It's something I've decided to do with my kids every now and then for one-on-one time, time out and just a way to chill, play & explore. While we were walking along the beach he asked if we could build a sandcastle...which ended up looking like boobs...no kidding, I was always pretty shit at sandcastle building anyway...but don't worry there is a point to this story. We started off with the base...and the mum/person that I am, I found a little life lesson to add to our playdate. The base...we looked at as the foundation...the foundation that we all need to hold us up in the shaky times. We all require a strong foundation...without it we will become lost, distracted, swayed too easily, put off course. As I was sharing this with my boy...I realised that my foundation has being getting put through the tester. I hadn't been keeping up the maintenance that I know works for me, that I know is required and things have felt a little shaky, a little weak at times. We talked about what it looks like to build a strong foundation, to maintain it, to care for it, to keep it from cracking and falling down. What I loved was that it was the simplest things that Arlo found important to him to build and keep a strong inner foundation. A beautiful reminder to myself...it is the simple things in life. Life doesn't have to be so complicated...we make it so. And so with our strong boob looking sandcastle that gave us some laughs, connection, great convo, we walked away to rinse off in the water ready to step back into life as we know it get's to be...while building our home with the strongest foundation we can create for ourselves.
