I don't own a toaster, a jug or a microwave. It's not that I can't have those things, I could easily drive to the store now and buy all three, I just choose not to. Why...well, simply because I don't need them. Instead we boil the pot...like the good old days. We grill our bread and watch it turn into toast...or burn some days. And well not having a microwave makes me be more organised in getting things out of the freezer...the only reason I used one really anyway. My kids are often on at me to get them, to apparently make life easier for them...or me... But I just tell them it's mindful toasting haha. One thing I don't like is clutter...I love a clear bench. And to be honest we don't need half the things we own, consume over time. I used to keep everything and anything, I used to be a shopper for a new black top often...trust me, they all looked different, in my eyes. I used to have so much mess around me of things I never used or needed. It all made me feel cluttered in the head...and the reason was, because I was cluttered in the head. Purchases were made to make me free good...for a moment. Having more things made me feel like the outside world would think I'm able...a way of proving myself you could say. And over time as I decluttered my mind, the more I found I wanted less things. Going into town, into the shops only happens for when I'm in need of something I do actually require. I think I've only purchased two items ever online. Walking into the grocery store never feels like I'm going to leave with a tonne of extras...unless my 6 year old sneaks hand sanitiser into the lot - yes true story, and he was so proud of himself that he got something past me, only to realise later he should have put chocolate there instead haha. The more content I started to feel within, the less things I needed. I'm a simple girl and I like it way better that way...I feel more at home that way. Things will only make you feel good for a moment, Experiences, people, creating, connection, they are what give you the good feels for the long haul. Connect with self and you connect into what truly matters in life.
