FEELING CAGED?

There was a time where I felt like a caged animal. Although calm on the surface, inside of me I felt so frustrated, my mind racing most of the time, All because I couldn't find it in me to express myself in the ways I wanted to. Afraid of not being accepted fully by family, friends and my partner at the time, Afraid of being different to those around me, I was so afraid to be me. And anytime that a small part of me came out...I'd apologise and closed back down. Until it wore me down completely and I remember one night exploding like a caged animal does. I was done! And so...I unlocked my own damn cage. And stepped out and started to really care for myself in ways that were right for me. We're the only ones who lock ourselves away from being ourselves, No one else has the key to that cage...just you. You get to choose to say what's on your mind and what you need, You get to choose to do the work you want to do in the world, You get to choose the conversations you want to be in or not be in, You get to choose the things that put life back into you. You get to choose new ways that allow you to express yourself that feel freaking amazing. It's not going to be easy and you'll be challenged by it some days. I still have to remind myself daily, sometimes multiple times a day, That feeling like a caged animal is no longer an option. And you get to unlock that for yourself. There is no right time.... The time gets to be right NOW! Does all or even parts of you feel caged? Are you ready to step out of that cage or yours?
