HOLD IT ALL WITH A STEADY HAND

The other night I spoke about the choice we have to change our thoughts,
To think more positively. Knowing it won't happen all the time, but also knowing there are many times we have the ability to change them - and we can.
Especially in the beliefs we hold, or more so, wish to hold for ourselves.
When you've held one belief for so long, it's an effort to change to an new one, to hold to it, especially when those around you, see differently to you.
For many, to think positively wasn't taught, the opposite was - to think the worst case scenario to prepare yourself, so the hit won't be so bad and if it ends up the best case scenario then what a bonus. In this state of living, to think positively, feels wrong in a way. That only once you've got it (whatever 'it' is), then you have a right to be positive.
What if all this positivity doesn't get you anywhere?
What if it's all in your head, all dreamland?
Or...What if, instead...belief in something that isn't yet here, or in some cases, is here, isn’t about forcing ourselves into positivity?
But it’s simply about believing that we can believe,
Even when we don’t feel high, excited, or full of momentum?
What if we didn’t try to be positive all the time...and instead, tried to be neutral?
And I get it - the highs feel good. They feel really good. The rush of excitement, the skip in your step, of course you want to stay there. We all do. But it's not sustainable. (And don't get me started on all the high vibration talk...that ruffles my feathers)
So...to be neutral?
What's that like...Can you feel into that now?
Not to suppress joy. Not to dim the light. But to hold things gently. To stay grounded. To not grip too tightly to the highs, the wins, the good moments.
But just to soften it a little, just enough to stay steady.
Think about when you’ve created something, succeeded in some way, met someone, made money and you felt excited, proud, ready to share it. But something in you whispered,
“Just let it be. Let it exist. Just as it is.”
Not because you're not proud.
Not because it's not worth celebrating.
But because something in you has always known,
The moment itself is enough.
Maybe that’s what we're here for, how we're here to experience things, experience life.
Not the high.
Not the constant rise.
Just a steadiness.
Because the good days are great - and they won’t last.
Just as the hard days are hard - and they too won’t last.
If we neutralise it all, we start to understand something,
That life naturally ebbs and flows. That's the heartbeat of life.
Gain and loss.
Joy and grief.
Rise and fall.
Equal amounts of everything, in their own time.
To stop putting anything on a pedestal and instead we let everything sit on the same level inside of us.
Be it a person,
Money
A piece of art
A moment
A holiday
An emotion
To let it all be neutral.
And again, this doesn’t mean numbness.
It doesn’t mean not celebrating.
It doesn’t mean suppressing excitement or joy.
By all means, celebrate, be proud, feel it fully.
Just hold it with a steady hand.
Not too tight.
Not too high.
Not too low.
Just here - grounded, present and enough.
Can you feel the energy of it? - I can.
It feels calm, peaceful, beautiful to hold things in that way.
Want more of this...then join into The Art of Self If there's something in you that's calling for change, calling to explore, calling to step into a space of true love, honour, trust & respect for yourself - then here is where I share it all.
Nothing is off the table - it's real, raw and if you're committed, it will change you.
There's been some renovations inside, with some delicious additions, and more rolling out.
I like to call it the Home of Expression - because we all deserve a home where we can be fully expressed to explore, dream & discover. There's a seat waiting for you xx
And remember
The art of self (of you) is leading the way...let it move you.
