This New Years I had planned to go away with my sister, her partner and a few of their friends to Napier, yet with such a busy, interesting end to last year, I felt the want to stay home, to not go away on a holiday. Going away brings a list of things to do, and I just didn't want anymore things to do. With 10 days with out the kids, I knew I needed this time to re-charge, To give myself space to breath again, To give myself space to re-focus.
I live at the Mount, a hop skip and a jump away from the beach.
I'm already in one of the best holiday spots.
And I have everything I need right here at home.
And let me tell you, It's been one of the best holidays ever.
In total seriousness, I have enjoyed every minute.
I've had my nana naps - since I'm a nana and all these days.
I've gone for swims in the ocean,
I've gone for walks,
I've visited friends,
I've walked around wearing only my sarong,
I spent New Years with one of my favourite friends,
I've read,
I've written,
I've blasted my music,
I've sunbathed naked on my deck,
I've had a couple of guests stay for one night,
I've done some work that lights me up big time.
Right now, I feel so connected to self & to my 2020 goals.
This is the first time, I could honestly say I haven't felt lonely.
I haven't felt left out or disconnected from life, people etc.
When really, I thought loneliness would sneak in, but it didn't, it hasn't,
I think it's great to be able to get away from your everyday space every now and then,
To see different parts of the country, the world.
What amazing experiences and I'm all for new experiences.
But just know there can also be joy found in where you are right now, in your home,
Without the added stress of packing up and feeling like you need a holiday when you get back home.
My next holiday may look different to this one,
But right now is where it's at, and I'm loving it.
Appreciate your everyday space, Appreciate you and all you can bring to yourself for yourself. Allow everything and everyone else to be a bonus to your life.
