Show don't tell...

I don’t want to tell my kids they should love themselves I want to show them simply by loving and enjoy who I am.

I don’t want to tell my kids they should honor themselves, I want to show them how I honor myself.

I don’t want to tell my kids they should follow their dreams, I want to show them by following my dreams.

I don’t want to tell my kids they should treat people well, I want to show my kids by the way I treat people.

I don’t want to tell my kids they shouldn’t put up with people who treat them poorly, I want to show my kids that I don’t put up with those who don’t bring good to my world.

I don’t want to tell my kids to speak up for what they want, I want to show them by asking for what I want.

I don’t want to tell my kids how they should love, I want to show them by how I give love to others.

I don’t want to tell my kids what their values should be, I want to show them by having my own values and living by them.

I believe that to many of us are busy telling others how they should be, live, act, Instead of just concentrating on how we wish to be. I believe that when we do what’s right for us with honesty and integrity, Our children will pick up on all of this.

We are the guides for our little ones, So being the person who you would love your children to become, (with their own individual awesomeness of course) Is the best thing you could do for them.

I’m still learning all of these things myself, So all I can do is do my best with what I know. I don’t know if this is the right way or not, But it’s what feels right for me, As each of them reach adulthood, I guess this is when I will know how I did as a parent.
