For her it was "THIS IS THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN" Not all, but many of the woman who come into my studio to be photographed are either currently going through a shift in their life and are exploring themselves for the first time, trying different things to figure out who they, some pushing themselves so far outside their comfort zone, others just finding new ways to express themselves and to see what unfolds. Or they've already been through the big shift and are now in the space of celebrating all of it, all of who they've become, even to the point of celebrating all of who they've been. It's amazing to watch and listen to these women while they're in the studio...man how I wish you could all be a fly on the wall. They bring so much of themselves to the table to keep stepping forward. One lady just recently said to me 'This is the nail in the coffin' She was finally putting her hand up to the life she had been living and was stepping forward, towards the life she had always truly seen for herself. Her portraits were to represent that, her new way of living and showing up for herself. It's never really about having your hair & make up done, being all pampered and ending up with beautiful portraits...(although it does feel damn amazing) it is so much for than that. It's the conversations that are had, the ones where many get to hear themselves, some for the first time, in what they're wanting to show up for. It's truly seeing themselves in the light, the person they have played in their own life movie staring right back at themselves, and their eyes filled with 'What else is possible for me'. It's seeing the confidence that is there inside of them, It's seeing the woman who has birthed, who has cared, who has juggled and managed so much and who is now ready to start caring for herself, and really finding out who she is and what floats her boat. These portraits are her daily reminder, that she get's to be that, be HER, every god damn day. I know first hand, what it feels like to want to express yourself but not being able to... I also know first hand, that when you do, when you allow yourself to step forward and express, how much freedom and lightness is felt. So creating a space where woman like you get to walk in and feel free to explore, express and be heard, fills my heart up so much...because I am just like you. If you're going through a shift in life, can feel one coming on, or have recently made changes for yourself - let's celebrate that, let's see what else there is there for you. I'd love to invite you into my studio space to have your own personal portrait experience with me. Flick me a message and let's chat first.
