What Was Your Turning Point?

What was your turning point, and what did you do to move forward?

This was one question I was asked after I spoke last Friday to a room full of women. To be honest, I’ve had many turning points in my life. (Like many) For me, it were the moments when I was down and there was only one way to go - up, Even if they were slow, small steps that only I felt and saw.

The moments when my life nearly came to an end at two different occasions, These were two big turning points for me. These moments where I had no choice but to decide what I wanted moving forward.

When things in life happen - because it will at some point. It’s just about tuning into yourself, Asking yourself the question “What’s one thing, just one thing, I can do” Then doing and focusing on that one thing. Making a promise to yourself.

For some it could be simply to just get out of bed in the morning, every morning no matter how you’re feeling.

It could be standing in front of the mirror every day to acknowledge and accept your body as it is right now.

Maybe it’s finding 5 minutes everyday to write and clear your mind and re-write how you want it to be.

Or setting one boundary for yourself that you truly want for yourself and it’s non-negotiable, no matter who tries to cross it.

I remember writing every person who triggered me in someway on a card. Each day I would spend time looking at their name, feeling triggered, and then acknowledging everything that had happened or had been said. Reflecting on why it triggered me and then time forgiving and accepting them as they were. Letting go of what was and choosing to have it different for the future. I still do this to this day when I feel triggered in some way by some one.

I also remember choosing to make eye-contact with anyone who spoke with me, because I had kept my head down for so long. This was a hard one for me, because I didn’t want them to see through me and judge me for who I was.

Just remember no matter how you are feeling about yourself, about life, You have the ability to change it to what you really want. Don’t get me wrong, there are days were I fall backwards, and still drop my head. At the moment, I’m struggling with parenting…I’m being tested left, right and centre, And it’s not my kids I need to look at, it’s actually me and what I can change within myself.

We all have something, so never feel like you’re the only one. But to move forward in anything, it takes self refection, it takes time, it takes practice.

We all know what we don’t want in life, but when you focus on what you don’t want, you’re still focusing on it. So do yourself a little fav, and write down all you want, dream, get excited and focus on that.

Plant the seed (in your mind), water it (focus on it) And it will grow (goal reached or at least another step closer).
