We are constantly moving from one thing to the next in life, moving so quickly that we're not giving ourselves time to stop and appreciate what is and enjoying the space we're in. We're in constant hurry, ticking off our goals, the next step, the next achievement like another notch on the belt, like the worlds going to end. We think one thing is going to be the thing that brings happiness to our world, yet once that's ticked off, we don't necessary feel that feeling of fulfilment, so we quickly rush to the next thing we think will do the trick. And we continue to rinse and repeat this same process. I see it similar to what I call the checklist of life. Find a partner, get married, buy a house, have a child, then the next, get the job and so on and so on...each step expected, each step celebrated, until there's nothing left to tick off and many still feel empty...why is this...well after being that very person myself, ticking off my list and finding emptiness in myself as an individual at the end of it all I realised it was because I was in such a rush. A rush to be in a certain place by a certain time. To achieve what was expected of me, what I thought I needed to do to be accepted as a decent adult. Not just a rush in myself but the rush of others also. Never stopping to make sure each step was what I wanted at that very moment of time. The same goes for any goals really...rush from one to the next. But what if we slowed things down a bit, just a little. To ask ourselves if each step, each goal is for us and if it is...go for it with good intention. Not only that, but enjoy the whole process along the way, not just the idea and completion of it, but every moment in between that. I'm all for the checklist of life, so long as what's being ticked off is your souls desire in a timing that can be truly embodied, enjoyed and remembered. What I believe to be true now is that when we can stop and appreciate the little moments, celebrate the little milestones along the way, that is where the moments of happiness is felt. The warmth of appreciate, the buzz of excitement, the deep gratitude for what is. Allowing yourself to sit in that space just a moment longer. The moment it's time to move to the next thing will be brought to your attention in the most calm & quiet knowing to say - It's Time.
