You've heard that saying right?
Well it popped into my mind on a walk about 6 months ago...and it's stayed with me.
Although I understood the saying, I still googled it and found the original phrase is...
“The proof of the pudding is in the eating” which means, you don’t know if the pudding is good until you taste it.
When it popped into my mind, I was thinking about something I really wanted to be true for me in my life. I could talk about it, I could have good intentions for it, I could learn more about it, but really that only get's you so far.
The proof is in the pudding, means it needs to be experienced, it needs to be put into play, it's keeping promises to self to match it no matter what. It's making decisions, even the smallest of ones that move you forward so that you can start to see the proof yourself.
The more you gain proof, the more you want to see how far you can take it, it becomes this fun game with yourself. You can also see what could follow once you know the pudding tastes good.
You see the opportunities, the possibilities....you see them, because those opportunities have possibly already presented themselves, but because you hadn't yet experienced the proof within yourself first - you couldn't move forward...you did't think it was for you, you didn't think it was in you, you didn't think you could possibly...have it, do it or be it. Maybe you just didn't know which way to turn next, because the earlier steps hadn't yet been taken.
We're unable to jump from 0-100...we're required to take every...single...step, there is no cheat code, no life hack to get you there, just the steady steps. And each one will only show up when you take the one prior...you have to experience the small itty-bitty proofs for yourself first, with each one building on top of the other.
Yes you have to prove it to yourself first. You have to experience it first.
You have to allow your body to feel what each steps feels like. One big jump will throw you off centre, you may want to run, avoid, throw it all away...but when you allow the smaller changes to occur, over time your body learns to hold and adjust faster, that when the bigger moves presents themselves again - you'll be ready.
So hold the saying 'The proof is in the pudding' with any area of life where you want change.
What does that proof look like for you?
What does it require of you?
What's the first step it's asking of you?
No part of it wants to be rushed, yet the faster you move on the step that's in front of you, the quicker you'll experience that delicious tasty pudding (and so much self trust).
